What We Do

Our Practice
Our experience with the NHIB funding model enables us to offer free effective outpatient, individualized, psychological care. NIHB eligible Indigenous and Inuit participants are eligible for up to 22 hours of covered psychotherapy. If more is required, we can advocate on your behalf for more sessions as well. We treat a number of mental health disorders and help with trauma and substance abuse for free with no up front payment by you, and provide a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples. For official information about the NIHB program, please visit this Government of Canada site: https://www.sac-isc.gc.ca/eng/1572537161086/1572537234517.

Our Treatment Focus
Our focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. We achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan. You can contact Express Scripts, who administers the NIHB program and can be reached at: https://nihb-ssna.express-scripts.ca/.

Our Patient Promise
We promise to be there for you every step of your journey. Our goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life through caring based counselling. We take care of all of the billing tasks and all you need to provide is your 10 digit registration number on your Secure Indian Status Card or other official ID documents.

Founders Welcome
Welcome to Caring Connections Counselling, a trusted and compassionate counselling centre located in Etobicoke at Bloor St. West and Islington Ave and in Mississauga near Square One. I founded this practice because I saw in my own family how we were affected by mental health issues and how we grew closer through adversity. We're dedicated to supporting indigenous people on their journey to emotional well-being and personal growth. I am accepting new clients with NIHB status and I believe in the transformative power of counselling and strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their concerns, build resilience, heal and discover their inner strengths--Alan Choi MSW RSW, Founder of Caring Connections Counselling.

FAQ
In-person counseling offers numerous benefits that can significantly enhance your mental well-being. One of the key advantages is the ability for therapists to observe nonverbal cues, such as body language and facial expressions, which provide deeper insights into a client's emotions and thoughts. This personalized attention helps therapists tailor their interventions more effectively. Additionally, the intimate nature of face-to-face interactions fosters a stronger therapeutic relationship, making clients feel more and understood. Embrace the transformative power of in-person therapy to nurture your personal growth and emotional health.
